The Universe

Wow, this was not ment to be a month with blogsilence. It just happened to be. No craft came out of my fingers!
But certainly there was a lot going on. For instance the organisation of a feast in school with this theme: the Universe. Together with another mother we made a design for the schoolyard, just sitting half an hour on a bench watching our kids playing there. But how to realise it? I made a list with 40 tasks on which parents could enter their names. But none of them did! So one week later I just added their names randomly myself. And guess what, all parents were in!
For me there was some sewing to do: silver curtains for the stage background, to be painted black curtains after the gate and a rocket... I'm not a rocket expert at all, so I drew a simple one on a small piece of paper, based on standard fabric width to make it easy and asked our little boy next door if he liked it. After his approval I went to the market, bought an impressive amount of fabrics by meter and made this 8 meter high rocket! Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday were planned around this so-called Springmarket and we were having a great time.
Thanks F for being responsable for the ropes, fixed on two facades on a distance of 26 m, the bounderies of the schoolyard. You're my hero!

Tjee, dat was nog een heel project! Maar het ziet er prachtig uit. Maar ik vraag me serieus af waar je die enorme berg stof hebt liggen als je zo'n enorme raket in elkaar zet...

Good to have you back! Wat een stoere klus zo'n raket! Heel gaaf! Die kun je wel verhuren voor evenementen! Geruststellend dat het wbt. ouderparticipatie overal hetzelfde liedje is.

That is like the way coolest rocket I've ever seen. Soooooooo awesome! It is hanging by a string? Does it have supports holding its shape? I'd love to hear about that if so.

@ emilysmithpearce: the rocket was hanging on a rope and had only one circular pipe of PVC in the top. At 4 points it touched the ground by using the weight of little sandbags. I was very surprised as well that it worked out like this!

I can't even begin to imagine how tricky this project must have been. Congratulations for taking it on - what a beautiful result.

They need to make science more interactive and hands on. I was bored out of my mind when i was learning science.
