A tip about the upholstery I used. Some of you maybe know the beautiful fabrics of Kvadrat. Their Divina is used on a regular base in my professional projects. For this sofa bed however I used a slightly different option: the so-called Europost of Gabriel. This fabric is some cheaper and stronger. And I think the ocher is the most beautiful colored woolen upholstery there is. The picture doesn't show it properly; you should see it in real!

Wat heb je toch een geweldig huis! Die cover ziet er heel professioneel uit, knap werk. Is de stof een beetje viltachtig?
That is brilliant...I may need to use this idea sometime.
This looks fantastic. And a great idea - sewing two mattresses together. I guess your guests will sleep very well.
Hela, wat is er mis met een ikea matras ;-), ik slaap er heerlijk op hoor!
Mooi gemaakt, heb je al loge's gehad?
XO Heidi
@ Heidi: no doubt Ikea matresses will do too, as long as they're not too soft.
I love the colour combinations here.
Such a great + beautifully simple solution. Makes me envy!
That's a terrific idea! It looks very nice.
I recently found your blog and am so glad I did!
I have question about this bed, though. Did you sew the mattresses together and then flip one on top of the other? Are the two mattresses resting on a bed frame? I'm trying to picture this in my head - logistics and all - and would really like to try this idea at home.
Thank you for your help.
shoot... just bought a sofa bed! This would have been much better!
Wat een goed idee! Ik denk dat ik ook zo´n bed maak voor onze logeerkamer, met Ikeamatrassen, maar in plaats van zo´n lelijke, onhandige Ikea slaapbank....
@ mvvd: yes, the fabric looks a bit like felt. Note my post of a necklace in a few days for a close up.
@ Blue Castle: you're totally right. First sewing, then flipping and finally covering.
I love this idea, and I will use it for my 1 room apartment :) But how did you sew the cover? Can you maybe make a guide/tutorial) or a drawing on how the parts are seed together :)
Sarah
@ S.: thank you! I made it like wrapping paper. Stitched the four corners and used zippers (see top right image) for the flounces. Unfortunately I can't make a tutorial right now, but give it a try and I'll help you when necessary. Just let me know. Good luck!
